Halo Infinite Development Ends Early: What's Next for the Master Chief Saga?
Halo Infinite will no longer receive active development after just four years, with the final major update, Operation: Infinite, launching on November 18th.
Despite an initial 10-year plan announced in 2021 to continue Master Chief's story, Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) has confirmed that Operation: Infinite will be the "last major update currently planned."
However, Halo Studios assures players that they will continue to support the game with challenges, ranked rewards, and community events "throughout next year and beyond." The team is shifting its focus to new projects, including Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Halo Studios thanked the community for its support, highlighting the seasons, events, maps, modes, and Forge tool upgrades that have been added to the game.
Operation: Infinite, launching November 18th, will include 2X Career Rank and SP boosts, a 100-tier Operation Pass, eight armor sets, new Ranked Seasons, and 200 new customizations.
This news follows the departure of Halo art director Glenn Israel last month after 17 years with the franchise, hinting at potential issues within the studio amidst recent Microsoft layoffs.
