Path of Exile 2 is finally gaining real momentum, generating excitement with its excellent Third Edict update. Developer Grinding Gear Games wants to keep this pace going with consistent new content, which is great news if you're looking for an escape from family gatherings this holiday season. You can still expect the PoE 2 0.4.0 update to arrive in early December.
After a challenging start to its early access, GGG seems to have significantly improved the RPG with its recent updates. The addition of Act 4 in update 0.3.0 was a big deal for players tired of replaying the same few story parts. The Rise of the Abyssal League has also been much more successful than previous leagues, especially with the major endgame improvements that came in 0.3.1. What was once uncertainty about GGG's next steps has now turned into genuine anticipation for 0.4.0 and beyond.
In a new Path of Exile 2 community post, GGG confirmed that its next major update is indeed "on track." They also promised to "reveal the livestream and release date very soon." It’s a brief update, but at least we can be sure there won't be any delays. With so much content still planned before version 1.0, I'm really hoping we'll start seeing some progress on the character classes.
Out of the 12 classes promised for the full launch, five are still missing, including my favorite Druid. This is my go-to class in almost every game where it's available. The big bear was supposed to arrive with 0.3.0 but was cut due to development problems. Game director Jonathan Rogers told 'DarthMicrotransaction' back in August that the class was stuck in "animation system hell." When GGG had to choose between continuing to work on the Druid or focusing on other parts of 0.3.0 that were ready to launch, the decision was clear. Hopefully, the Druid is now ready to go.
Along with the small 0.4.0 news, GGG mentioned that once the Rise of the Abyssal League ends, your characters and items will move to the Standard or Hardcore early access League. As the saying goes, "no wipes."
