Valve announces 3 new Steam hardware devices: Steam Machine, VR headset Steam Frame, and a new Steam controller

Valve has officially announced three exciting new hardware products: the Steam Frame VR headset and its controllers, an updated Steam Controller, and a powerful next-generation Steam Machine.

Following online rumors, Valve confirmed these devices are designed to seamlessly integrate with each other, just like the Steam Deck. They are optimized for the Steam platform while maintaining their status as open systems.

These new products are planned for release in all regions where the Steam Deck is currently available, including the US, Canada, UK, Europe, and Australia. Additionally, they will launch in Komodo-covered territories such as Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. While exact pricing and release dates are still being finalized, Valve aims to begin shipping these devices in early 2026.

The new Steam Controller shares its core design with the Steam Deck, offering all the necessary inputs for playing every game on Steam, no matter where you are. It’s an ergonomic, high-performance controller featuring next-generation precision magnetic thumbsticks, full-sized controls, responsive trackpads, gyro aiming, and comfortable grip buttons. This Steam Controller is perfectly suited for use with your PC, laptop, Steam Deck, the new Steam Machine, or the Steam Frame VR headset.

The new Steam Machine is designed for robust and versatile PC gaming on your big screen. It is remarkably quiet and compact, fitting easily under your TV, on your desk, or anywhere you prefer to game. Measuring roughly 6 inches (160mm) as a cube, it runs SteamOS, offering the same smooth experience as the Steam Deck. While this Steam Machine works best with the new Steam Controller, it can also pair with your other favorite accessories.

The Steam Frame is a comfortable, wireless, and lightweight VR headset built to transform how you experience your entire Steam library, supporting both VR and non-VR games. It provides full controller input for all PC VR and standard games. More than just a headset, this Steam Frame is a standalone PC powered by a Snapdragon® processor and running SteamOS, giving you the familiar Steam Deck experience. This allows for immersive standalone gaming wherever you go, in addition to streaming all your Steam games.

Gabe Newell, Valve’s president, expressed his enthusiasm: "We've been very pleased with the success of the Steam Deck, and PC gamers consistently ask for even more ways to enjoy the great titles in their Steam libraries. Our extensive work over the years on other hardware, and especially on SteamOS, has made it possible for the new Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and Steam Frame to deliver exactly that."
