The Chinese Wuxia action-RPG Where Winds Meet has achieved a massive launch, attracting over two million players within the first 24 hours of its global release. The free-to-play title, developed by Everstone Studio and published by NetEase Games, is demonstrating the growing international demand for Chinese-developed open-world games.
Following its successful debut in China last December, the global launch of Where Winds Meet saw huge player engagement across all platforms (PC, PS5, and Mobile).
Total Players: Over 2 million in the first 24 hours globally.
Concurrent Peak on Steam: The PC version achieved a peak concurrent player count of nearly 194,000.
Sales Performance: The game is currently listed among the best-sellers on PS5 in multiple major markets, including the US, France, and South Korea.
While the Steam concurrent player peak sits below the all-time figures for Battlefield 6 (747,440) and Arc Raiders (481,966), the 194,000 figure is highly impressive for the genre. Notably, Where Winds Meet already surpasses the peak concurrent count of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers (131,518), another high-profile Chinese action-RPG released earlier this year, though it remains below the monumental peak of Black Myth: Wukong (2.4 million).
The free-to-play model naturally attracts a large initial surge of players. However, the game’s success is further amplified by its sizable online multiplayer component, which functions similarly to an MMO, helping to sustain concurrent player numbers.
Beralt Lyu, Lead Producer of Where Winds Meet, emphasized the team’s commitment to the global community:
"Looking ahead, our team is committed to listening to feedback from our global player community and continuously improving the game. We will also continue to deliver high-quality seasonal updates, bringing more captivating narrative, fresh game modes and new exploration content to the exciting Jianghu."
