Planet Zoo fans, get ready! After six successful years, Frontier Developments has announced they're working on a sequel to the popular zoo management simulator.
The original Planet Zoo launched in November 2019 and quickly became a fan favorite thanks to its beautiful graphics and deep customization options, similar to Planet Coaster. Over the past six years, the game has received 20 expansion packs, introducing new animals, scenarios, and themed scenery. It even made its way to consoles.
The announcement came during the game's sixth-anniversary celebration. A trailer hinted at the sequel with a countdown from 2019 to 2026, highlighting the number "2." Frontier then confirmed the news on their website.
"Since we launched Planet Zoo back in 2019, we've been blown away by the creativity, passion, and dedication of you, the community," the studio said. "But what does the future hold? Well, today we are delighted to reveal that we are hard at work on a sequel to Planet Zoo! We're really excited about this project, and we look forward to sharing more with you next year!"
While it's unclear if Planet Zoo 2 will launch next year or if that's when we'll get more details, fans are eager to see how Frontier will improve upon the original, especially after the mixed reception to the Planet Coaster sequel. Many are hoping for new features like flying birds.
