Battlefield 6 Fixes Progression: Overhauled Challenges Unlock Class Training Paths and Weapons

One of the loudest and most persistent criticisms leveled at Battlefield 6 since its release was its heavily flawed progression system. While BF Studios previously addressed the frustratingly slow XP earn rates, particularly for weapons, the complex and often overtuned requirements for many Challenges and Assignments remained a significant bottleneck.

The core issue was that Class Training Paths and several powerful weapons were locked behind these highly specific and time-consuming objectives, effectively making them unavailable to the average player. Many users resorted to creating specialized Portal servers simply to meet these arbitrary requirements.

Simplified Requirements, Massive Impact

In a new blog post, BF Studios acknowledged that the original requirements focused too heavily on time investment rather than player mastery. Data and player feedback clearly indicated that the demands were excessively difficult.

The good news for the community is that the extensive tweaking of these requirements will not ignore progress already made. Players simply need to complete one match for their updated progress to reflect the new thresholds; no starting over is necessary.

The update introduces over 90 adjustments, hitting the majority of the troublesome challenges, including:

  • Class Unlock Challenges: The entirety of the challenges for the Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon classes have been altered, finally opening access to their remaining Training Paths.

  • Weapon Assignments: Requirements for most Weapon Assignments have been substantially simplified.

  • Assignment Clarity: Mode/Unit Assignment descriptions have been simplified, and their requirements have been reduced.

  • Per-Life Challenges: Even the most frustrating "do this much in a single life" Challenges have been modified to be realistically achievable in one round.

While this server-side update doesn't cover every single case, the sweeping changes promise a far smoother and more rewarding progression experience for nearly all Battlefield 6 players.

In related news, BF Studios recently updated the system for re-rolling battle pass Challenges to account for whether the player owns the full game, ensuring free-to-play Battlefield Redsec players are less likely to receive uncompletable objectives.
