The first season of Battlefield 6 has entered its second phase with the release of a major update (version 1.1.2.0). The patch delivers new content, including the highly anticipated map Eastwood, alongside critical fixes, most notably a comprehensive overhaul to controller aim assist and further tweaks to weapon dispersion.
The new update kicks off the "California Resistance" stage, the second of three planned phases for Season 1. The patch brings a mix of new hardware, fresh features, and key balancing changes to the multiplayer sandbox.
New Map: Eastwood The new map is set in California and is a dedicated slice of the larger Battlefield Redsec battle royale map, Fort Lyndon.
New Limited-Time Mode: Sabotage A tactical, 8v8 mode focused on destroying bomb sites.
Battle Pickups Powerful, limited-ammo weapons that can be found scattered around specific game modes (including Portal). These pickups deliver incredible firepower but cannot be replenished.
New Weapons and Attachment Players can unlock two new weapons: the DB-12 shotgun and the M327 Trait revolver sidearm, along with a new angled grip attachment.
Redsec Content: Redsec players receive a new Gauntlet mission called Rodeo, which features heavy vehicular action.
The core of the update focuses on addressing long-standing community concerns, particularly those affecting controller players:
Controller Aim Assist Overhaul: Battlefield Studios has implemented a major overhaul that essentially resets the aim assist system to the settings used during the open beta. This aims to make infantry targeting more consistent, resolving several issues that caused aim assist values to reset or behave erratically.
Improved Controller Input: The patch improves both input latency and stick response for all controller players.
Weapon Dispersion (Spread): The ongoing effort to refine gunplay continues, with the studio tuning weapon spread to fix unintended dispersion behavior and decrease its overall intensity across the board.
Quality of Life: The descriptions for certain Challenges have been rewritten for better clarity, and several deployable items have received consistency and bug fixes.
